Frequently Asked Questions

High Pressure Laminate (HPL) is a product which utilizes special- ly developed, digitally imaged printing papers impregnated with melamine resins. This is then pressed at extreme pressure and heat with additional layers of phenolic resin-impregnated kraft stock and a special UV resistant overlaminate. This process fuses the layers into a solid core material, making it a very strong and durable signage product that cannot peel or delaminate.
The maximum single image size is 48” x 144”. Murals can be tiled to any size, with graphics indexed over the whole surface. For special orders, 58” x 142” is also available but additional production time and minimum quantity orders may apply.
HPL is an excellent choice for many applications and is a great value when compared to similarly priced products. HPL has good graphic quality, has a very hard, scratch-resistant surface, and is very durable. It is also stands up well to extreme weather conditions, resists most forms of graffiti and is extremely impact-resistant.
There are a number of factors that can affect the cost of HPL such as size, quantity, installation options, material thickness and whether you need interior or exterior-grade product. Generally, the price of HPL is approximately RS. 200.00 per square foot based on a typical proj- ect consisting of approximately five 36” x 24”, 1/8” thick panels. It is best however, to have Cladsun.com provide you with an estimate for your specific project.
HPL can be manufactured as thin as 1/16” and typically no thicker than 1”. The 1/16” material comes with a sanded back so that it can easily be glued to either flat or curved substrates. Standard thick- nesses are 1/16”, 1/8”, 1/4” and 1/2”. Non-Standard thicknesses of 1/10”, 3/8”, 3/4” and 1” are also available but may require additional production time and minimum orders. Panels between 1/2” and 1” are self supporting and can accept threaded inserts for installation

Yes. The manufacturing process of HPL enables graphics to bleed right to the edge
HPL has a very hard surface and resists scratching very well. It is also an extremely dense and hard material, and therefore resists impact damage. If a determined vandal does damage this product in any way, it will not deteriorate any further as a result. HPL will not delaminate and is very resistant to most forms of graffiti including spray paint, permanent ink markers, lipstick and crayons.
The standard turnaround time for HPL is 10-15 days from receipt of your files and Purchase Order. This time includes content proofing and color proofing which is highly recommended. In certain situa- tions, we can offer much quicker turnarounds.
